Kouhei Kadono

🇯🇵Japan

Kouhei Kadono is a Japanese author best known for his Boogiepop series, which began in 1998 and spawned a genre of its own: the light novel series driven by supernatural mystery, urban atmosphere, and a fragmented, non-linear narrative structure that influenced countless subsequent Japanese and international authors and anime creators.

Boogiepop — a shinigami who inhabits the bodies of teenagers to protect humanity from unspecified threats — became one of the iconic figures of 1990s Japanese popular culture and is credited with helping to establish the light novel as a serious literary form.
