Genki Kawamura is a Japanese author and film producer whose novel If Cats Disappeared from the World (2012) became one of Japan's most beloved recent works of sentimental fiction — a slim, gentle story of a postman with a terminal illness who is offered extra days of life in exchange for making things disappear from the world, one by one.
