Sakinu Ahronglong is a Taiwanese indigenous author and hunter of the Pinuyumayan people whose writing gives voice to the culture, hunting traditions, and spiritual world of Taiwan's indigenous communities with warmth, humour, and profound reverence for the land. His book The Sage Hunter (translated by Darryl Sterk) is a collection of autobiographical narratives — stories of hunting, family, and the natural world — that constitutes an important literary and cultural document.
His work is part of a significant movement in Taiwanese indigenous literature that has reclaimed the right to tell one's own stories in one's own terms, refusing the condescension of both Han Chinese and Western perspectives.
